The Moosepet Service Cooperative Bank has completed 77 years of operation. It was registered as Moosepet Janakiya Pratham Sahaya Sangam in 1946 under the Thiru-Cochin Cooperative Act with limited liability. It started its operations in 1947. Initially, it was engaged in ration trading. Banking operations were also started from 1952. The society, which was operating in a very humble rented building, was converted into Moosepet Regional Cooperative Credit Society in 1957 during the Second Five Year Plan. Agricultural loans and a fertilizer distribution depot were also operated during that time. In 1961, the society purchased its own land, constructed a building and shifted its operations to it. With the emergence of service cooperative societies, the bank functioned as a service cooperative society in 1962. It was upgraded to a service cooperative bank in 1978. The classification of the bank was upgraded to Class-2 in 1982, Class-1 in 1983, and Class-1 Special Grade in 2008. The construction of the first phase of the building was carried out in 1979 on the bank’s own 17 cents of land, and the construction of the second phase of the building was carried out in 1992. In 2024, the existing bank management renovated the old building of the bank and built it with modern facilities and shifted the bank’s operations to it. The main branch is located near the head office in Chelakottukara, and branches are located in Ancheri and Nellikunnu. An extension counter is also operating in Kizhakkumpattukara. Two Neethi Medical shops, Neethi Ambulance and Mobile Freezer are also operating under the ownership of the bank in the old district hospital building and near the Jubilee Mission Hospital.
